Palm Sunday in Church Street

Hi All

We had a wonderful weekend here in Church Street. Firstly, we had the pleasure of the Dublin Brazilian Catholic Community, who were here for retreat on Saturday and Sunday. They meet every second week in our Church in Halston Street but twice a year, over 50 young adults come together for two days of prayer, fellowship, sharing, reflection and adoration here in Church Street. Powerful, powerful stuff. I have attached some photos and a video of their adoration time.

We also had the Gospel Mass yesterday evening with our very own Dublin Gospel Choir. Again over 50 young people involved in the choir now bring Gospel music to the country and beyond.

It was truly a joyous weekend for us all here and we pray that the Lord will grace us with many more of them

Franciscan Blessing of Pets, Skerries, Co Dublin

Yesterday, Br's Bryan and Sean began a week long mission for Skerries Parish. The first job to be done was to bless the local pets and their owners. There was a great turn out and everybody, including the pets, were well behaved.

Later in the evening we attending a performance of 'Peters Passion: A Musical Love Story' which is a fantastic take on the traditional passion play. Excellent performances, from the Transition Year student of Skerries Community College, of a brilliant script and musical score by Ms Bernadette Egan.

We finished our day by attending the last night of a tridium of prayer for the two fishermen who lost their lives and their families. It was a candle lit rosary at the harbour which ended with a lone piper playing 'Amazing Grace'. A very, very powerful witness of solidarity.

First Profession as a Capuchin Friar Minor

Hi
Here is a movie I put together of my first profession. My Profession followed a year of Postulancy, in Dublin, and a year of Novitiate, in Oxford. During the ceremony I professed the vows of Poverty, Chastity and Obedience for a period of three years. At Solemn Profession, we make this commitment for life.

It was a day of great joy, as you will see. This August, with God's help, Br Liam Quinn will make his first profession too. Liam is currently doing his Novitiate in America along with twelve other Novices, from all over the United States. It will be a day of great rejoicing for Liam, his family, friends and all his Capuchin Brothers.

Capuchin Friars: Called to Mission

Whether we work at home, or overseas, a Capuchin Friar is called to mission. Our mission is to make the world, our world, more Fraternal. We do this by living the Gospel life set out by Jesus Christ.

Jesus said :

When I was hungry, you gave me food to eat
When I was thirsty, you gave me drink,
When I was a stranger, you welcomed me,
When I was naked, you clothed me,
When I was in prison or sick, you came to visit me. (Matthew 25:35)

Whenever, and wherever, we do this to the least of the world, we do it to Him and, in turn, it is because of Him that we can do it.

Is Jesus calling you to join this mission? If you feel He is, then take the first step on that mission journey and contact us at capuchinvocation@gmail.com

Lord make me a channell ..........

Franciscan Meditation

Lord, cast your light into the darkness of my heart,
Give me a correct faith, certain hope and perfect charity.
Sense and knowledge Lord,
That I may know and do your Holy and True Will
